I was thinking about the episode Q of P over the past couple of weeks and I had a couple of thoughts. A good friend rasied the first point so I'll put it out for consideration, disscussion, target practice.

Has anyone noticed that John Straker's eyes are not blue like both of his parents? Granted eye color is determined by several factors so it may not mean anything, but could rasie a few "interesting" questions.

The other thing I thought about was John's last name. It has been assumed that it was Rutland because he was admitted to the hospital under that name. Another possibility is that this was an administrative error. The hospital ER admissions clerk might have just assumed the last name because Mary and/or her husband would have identified themselves as Mr. & Mrs. Rutland. It does happen quite often in these cases and under the curcumstances Mary might not have even thought to clarify the last name. Straker asked for his condition using the name John Straker which indicates to me, Straker was John's legal last name. (Ed would have known, had it been changed.)

Changing the name of a child without the consent of the non-custodial parent is difficult, if not impossible in the US. I'm not sure about the UK.

Johnny was Alec's child?

Dang, you're right! They looked dark in the first pic I looked at.

Can't be Paul, he has blue eyes as well.

Must be the mailman.

Ooooo, there's an idea! (Would love to be a fly on the wall when Mary explained that to Ed.)

I didn't know if that was onscreen or just in the script, talk about a plot untwist.

It certainly opens up possibilities? 

That's a very good point. But in Mary's defense, she didn't think along those lines until her mother dropped the hint. Still, the idea has merit, it would make one hell of a story.

That would be payback with a vengeance, wouldn't it?
