Like the nameslip under the painting in the second story, it wasn't really important to pursue that thread any further. It did what it was supposed to do, which was to move the story along. Too abrupt, not enough emotional upheaval (which I find very difficult to endure in reality or write about in fiction!) But I've known since I started this series that this scene would be the hardest to do. And it sure as hell is! So I'm in the midst of rewriting the damned scene (Ch. 7) for about the fourth time, and when it's finished -- properly this time -- I'll post the story on my website. But I probably won't repost the scene here on the forum. So if you too wanted things to get resolved a little more realistically, you may want to go to my website in a few days when it's up and read it there. IP Logged

I had the right idea for it, but it was all jumbled in my head. So I'm off to reread it after a break to eat, and hopefully it will still sound good afterward.
