Enclosed is a sample render. I also did a fly-through animation, which can be viewed here: vimeo.com/62401597 Most of the detailing of the controls is in place, but there are still a few open questions, and also discrepancies in layout of the set between episodes. I have rotated the central carrel slightly. It tends to turn up in different orientations in different episodes anyway; I’m not sure if this is deliberate (implying the carrel can rotate during use) or accidental. Gerry was known for his great sets in his puppet shows and I think he really got off on having such elaborate sets, even when doing live action. From the view we got of this set in "Mindbender" it's a round set that can be shot from any angle. The sky is not the limit; nor are the stars. WWW IP Logged

Reply #25 - Mar 30th, 2013 at 5:49am Print Post Yes, “Mindbender” was a very useful episode, because it gave an excuse to show some of the movie sets as movie sets. That overhead shot of Moonbase Control shows the gap cut out of the circle, though unfortunately not enough of the details around the walls at the same time to try to match them up. IP Logged

I agree with Deb, you have an eye for detail. Will you be posting more? SHADO HQ, or Skydiver? Mindbender was one of my three favorite episodes. Getting to see the "behind the scenes" look at the sets was a real treat. Matt What do you mean, we're out of coffee! WWW IP Logged

Reply #27 - Apr 2nd, 2013 at 2:59am Print Post Well, the good news is, I’ve been watching a few more episodes, and I think I have enough views around the wall of the control sphere to complete the circle. The bad news is, I think my calculations of the widths of things were a bit off, so there’s a big leftover gap in my circle... Anyway, enclosed is a preview of my next project, still at an early stage. It’s a view you never got in the original series. Trivia question: why not?
