They make good allies for the aliens.

Just about the same amount of moral fiber. Methinks Straker will hate the General and his ilk even worse.
My stories, that deal with history, all point to a faction of the Nazi's, colaborating with the aliens. Most of the stuff I focus on is the alien tech, and how some of it may have been used to get SHADO up and running so quickly.
The Nazi/Alien alliance opens other possibilities, some of which I vaguely allude to, but I am somewhat reluctant to go down that path, for fear of how it might affect those who still remember those times. It's like incorporating the events of 9-11 into a story. A few writers have done it tastefully and found a balance that works, but I'm not sure of my ability to strike that balance, especially with an event as frightening and painful as the Holocaust.
I've been thinking about this story for over a year and I'm glad I waited before diving into it. It's a complex plot by necessity, a lot of bad things had to happen to get the major powers, who know of the alien threat, to start shooting at each other.
I'm trying to balance the intrigue with some very personal moments, Ginny and Ed keeping each other grounded, a look into Alec's past, family moments, and so forth. I want the reader to identify with the characters, even the KGB Colonel is a family man.
Anyway, chapter 5 is done, except for some tweeking. On to chapter six. :
