If you've found a great resource or ARE a resource willing to share your expertise, this is the place to let people know.

For instance, Griff brought us http://gottcode.org/focuswriter/ and Neesierie has a collection of great articles at http://denisefelt.weebly.com/essays-on-writing.html.

There's also the Random Character Generator and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

What are the places YOU find helpful? What do you know that other people might find helpful in their writing? Let us know.

http://www.timeticker.com/

http://www.glock.com/english/glock19.htm This is only one reason why I chose the Glock as Straker's weapon of choice in all of my stories.

That's what I use to manipulate photos. It has the same basic functions as Photoshop, but it's free. I learned how to use it by simply experimenting with the controls.

http://tinypic.com/   Easy to upload pics. No necessity to sign up, but like any free site,  cookie hell.

Also, we're a fairly dependable source for some medical procedures. At least we'd be able to point a person in the right direction. My husband had to deal with an erroneous diagnosis of meningitis , (he says you haven't lived until you've had a lumbar puncture to diagnose severe headache and the nurse comes back in gear that protects her from contagion and tosses you in a isolation room and everyone visits you in masks and gowns.) anyway he  became seriously ill as a result of the antibotics for something he didn't have, so we know a little about that. We unfortunately know about morphine as well.

I use wikipedia a lot, from locations and runway information of major airports, to quantum mechanics. Wink

I use Wikipedia too.  Also, if I'm using terminology that's time sensitive and I'm somehow in the past, I turn to www.dictionary.com , because it not only gives you the definition, but when the word came into existence in our language.  When I was writing the Devilsgate Saga, I used it constantly!  Wink

And one I was just reminded by Amelia and Ed to add: http://little-details.livejournal.com/
A really great resource for when you just can't find what you're looking for.
