Hi Matt,

I needed to get Ginny into a place of hurt and jealousy and using Mary was one of several scenerios I had considered.

A longer review now!!

Prologue;

What a great start!! Love it when a story beings with such tension! And we are dragged along wondering who it is who is so angry and why!

Poor Alec.. getting in her way..

Nicely done, informing us that it is Ed who has upset GInny through Alec's comment. Paul and his big mouth.... yes indeed.
The conversation runs well, little touches.. 'wistfully', 'pensively' the details of
Ginny looking over at Alec as he stands... brings greater depth to the story and makes us part of it..I can see Alec, geting up, looking at Ginny to see if she is going to be able to cope!
A very promising and intriguing start Matt!

Chapter 1
And I was expecting Ed to be apologising to Ginny.. but no..straight into Command Mode..lovely! Again. a nice touch. to keep the reader interested,  and make us want to read on.
Totally new plot idea Matt!! Very well done indeed! You realy have excellent story lines!!
Quote:
“In that case,” said Ed in very measured tones. “You will prosecute him with extreme prejudice. Do I make myself clear?”

Very nice. Very Ed.

Great narrative about the Russian side of the story.. good details, again,. natural and 'comfortable' conversation.
I like the little 'aside' threat to Virginia (Too bad about the woman...)
Nice to see Alec taking control
Quote:
“So here is the game plan,” began Alec without preamble

He often gets ignored! and treated as if he is incompetent (without any justification really!)

There  are some clever and subtle hints as to a romantic liaison later, as well as insidious threats and intrigues!
An excellent start Matt!! Looking forward to more!

Chapter 2
Ivan Stepanov.. hmmm.. supposed to be the 'baddie'? intrigue  here! good story line!
Ed and Alecs conversation is good, I like the way Ed feels he has to justify his relationship with Mary and the hint that Alec has no idea what happened to John..  or perhaps .._ MUST, know that he is dead but not why

One minor point that might be worth thinking about.  Readers who have not read your previous stories might get a little confused re Ginny and Mary meeting.. as it doesn't say that they actually 'met' as in .. talked etc.
You might need to give a little more detail in the first chapter about them meeting.
But its developing very well indeed Matt.! Like it!

Chapter 3.. very nice conversation between Alec and JAckson. Poor Alec.. being chased to Moscow for a medical! And a clever touch to use that as  the point for mentioning Mary.

I am using an old clapped out, craptop. I have just spent ages trying to access  the reply post for Heartbreak. adn I haven't managed to read Chapter 4 properly either!

Chapter 3;

Quote:
“Ilya is going to make us something to eat, and then we will talk. Miss Lake this is a matter of the gravest urgency. The safety of the entire world may very well be determined by the events of the next few days,” he said in a way that made her skin crawl

A very good endng to the chapter.. making the reader wonder exactly what is going on! More than just aliens?

nice touch. I will try to do the next part when this laptop decides to actually work!

I seem to have missed posting on this story. I really need to go over the chapter carefully , Sorry Matt! Its been a bit hectic here.  Por Ginny, Poor Vanya, and I have a suspicion that Yanya really fancies Ginny, but it is not going to end happily!

I'll do  proper review later!!
