Posts: 658 Location: Washington (not DC) April Challenge Mar 26th, 2011 at 4:59pm Print Post For those of us in the US, April is not just Spring, but a time of battling mosters (AKA tax forms). This month's challenge: a short story dealing with a 'monstrous' (non-humanoid alien) D&D type creature - (My personal favorites are shapechanging dragons - steel and tungsten are two.) Choose a creature from Here or Here. Let me know which one and I'll send you the details. (For the Creature Finder, the higher the CR, the more difficult the creature is to handle.) Maybe a Doppelganger has found its way into the studio, or a rust monster at a Sky-Diver Base, or green slime, or some fool has called Pazuzu... If you only have one solution to a problem - you're not trying. IP Logged

(Matt thinks about an aquatic monster that would threaten his new submarine. And her new Captain. ) It looks like my Soul Mates rewrite might take a back seat. : What do you mean, we're out of coffee! WWW IP Logged

But does the monster necessarily have to be from those places? I tend to work best with ones I create myself. (Not that I've created that many, mind you.) But I don't work well with too many restrictions. What do you say? The sky is not the limit; nor are the stars. WWW IP Logged

But if you have one you like better - a Barbie robot? - then that should work. If you only have one solution to a problem - you're not trying. IP Logged

Now that's truly terrifying! No, actually I had in mind a certain chimera I had planned a story around once, but never got written. I think I'll brush up on my monster skills and dive in. Thanks for the inspiration! The sky is not the limit; nor are the stars. WWW IP Logged
