We have a nomination

The U.F.O. fandom is too small to even think about having awards, but that isn't true of other fandoms. The Lois & Clark TNAoS fandom has had annual fanfiction awards for many years now and (drum roll here):

This year General Edward Straker (of SHADO) has been nominated for Best Supporting Character for The Smallville Connection. Smiley  Cheesy

I only have 1 set where Straker was the bad guy - the Shadows series. The rest of the time he's a good guy - which seems to please even the Superman fans.

Although I do have to admit - he did make a very good bad guy. :Smiley

Yes he did! Smiley Doesn't he see the light, and switch sides later in that series? :Smiley

Well, eventually - I haven't written that yet. Freeman and Lake are definitely on the side of angels and I know they have high hopes of getting Straker turned around - as soon as they find him.

But Straker can be really stubborn.

Deb,
What a cool story!  I'm glad it won an award.  Or rather, that Gen. Straker won an award.  Wink  It was fun to see Superman as a boy.  I never watched the show; the original was before my time and the remake was after.  But I saw the Christopher Reeves movie when it came out and really liked it.  Anyway, excellent story.  Thanks for letting us know about the award!

I enjoyed it too. I do still watch Smallville occasionally - though any series that goes past about 5 or 6 seasons begins to lose its attraction for me - and General Straker fitted right in. I particularly enjoyed the Freeman / Straker conversations. I love dialogue when it really works. And I found the Men In Black references laugh-out-loud funny.

I enjoyed Lois & Clark, as well as Smallville. And all the movies. I'm a closet Superman fan! There is something about a person "who stands for truth, justice, and the American way," that appeals to the greater angels of my nature. Wink

Absolutely.

Extremes in religion are a personal bee in my bonnet. Doing what's right because it's only common sense. Some days I feel like John Lennon's 'Imagine"  Simple philosophy, beautifully told beautifully sung. I've always liked Lennon.

Although I have some personal belief in metaphysics, the best 'religion' I've ever come across is the Golden Rule.

I read the story, I enjoyed it although I'm not into Smallville or Superman. My wife grew up on Superman comics. She didn't like Lane, she wanted him to marry the mermaid.
