Hang on. !!

I can get 50 A4 pages.. in big enough font! ( and double spacing!) Oh... and only printing on one side!! Grin
Most of my stories are printed like that,  Wink..

I tend to do Bookman 10 , double spaced. Makes it easier to read.
I have them thermal bound as well. Sod it, why not. after all  it costs about £4 on average and a daily newspaper costs £1, so I think its worth having them done.

But a real book.. that would be wonderful!

I do hope you get it accepted. Smiley

Mine is currently Times 12, Single spaced.

The sample I sent to Titan Books was (to their standard) 12pt Courier, double spaced and ran to 50 pages which only reached the first third of page 15 on my original so we could be talking a fairly chunky paperback here

Douglas Adams started that with a chapter consisting of a single paragraph!

Mine isn't actually split into chapters - yet. It's quite difficult deciding where to make the breaks

Just had a little play and found that if I replaced the Times font with Courier, the page count increases to 68

As of this morning: it had reached 36,717 words. In book form, we'd now be looking at something like 140 pages.
I've now given the 'dirty old man' from 'The Long Sleep' a name

Absolutely, and  some of these stories are not written in advance, merely as the writer thinks of the next part. so there are no opportunities to redo, edit etc. I can't actually see how that can work. I tend to go over stories and add/ alter/ etc parts from the beginning before I am ready to finish it... as you have no doubt noticed by my frequent .. delete and repost... stories! Oh ,,, and I like to do stories from the middle outwards!

Moonlight.. I have done the beginning.. now doing the end... the middle will get done sometime!

Well, Straker has now met Leonid Brezhnev,
a second Alien Gun has turned up at RARDE in Kent and during testing exploded,
Ford has phoned in his report from Ankara, putting the  blame firmly at the feet of the Aliens.

Ford's boss is spitting feathers...

We're up to 56 pages and 38,736 words.

Watch this space!

You seem to be cracking along just fine Colin.. I however, am in the process of seriously wondering whether to delete a couple of stories and totally rewrite them! I simply cannot get the third one in the trilogy to behave itself..and if I do go along the lines of ..  a rewrite.. it will be a HUGE rewrite!, not just tweaking!

Rats.

I thought I had it all worked out so cleverly as well.

Glad Straker is meeting Brezhnev. Probably haveing a better time there than in my Russia Story!

Snippets always appreciated!!

Whilst I was away, I managed another 700 words including the following:

Just to set the scene: Straker has met the soviet Premier, Leonid Brezhnev, at his dacha in Georgia. Unfortunately, the Aliens are determined to prevent a successful meeting and a UFO is waiting to ambush them when they emerge from cover in the forests. Straker is attempting to reach an abandoned vehicle in an attempt to shoot down the UFO.

Now read on...

Straker held his breath. Whatever was stalking him was now just on the other side of the tree…
Above the sound of the UFO, there was a distant, low-pitched rumble. Perhaps a storm, with heavy rain would provide enough cover to reach the vehicle, particularly if the risk of lightning forced the UFO to gain height.
A large figure appeared round the tree. Straker leapt. There was a muffled grunt as the figure hit the ground. Straker rolled clear and froze as he heard the clicking of weapons being cocked. In the gloom, he could make out the shapes of figures, each pointing weapons at him. He was surrounded. Slowly, he raised his hands. Perhaps the Aliens would understand the meaning of surrender. No, not surrender, he’d die first; just a sign that he was unarmed and was prepared to talk to the aliens, to find out why they came to Earth.
  Wink
