Oops - a continuity booboo! Is Alec's scuba suit wet, dry, or heated?? I'll have a think, and see if anything else crawls out of the woodwork.

Sorry folks!

I was tickled to see this up, Snow Leopard. I'm only part way through it but wanted to let you know that I like how you weaved all the past elements of your previous story in this so new readers wouldn't be lost. Also how you touched upon past events to get readers up to speed.
Can't wait to finish this but I have to get to work now. LOL!
This is a nice Xmas prezzie for me too.
Oh and while I'm at it, I wish you and yours a lovely Xmas and New Year!

Just wanted to let you know, Snow Leopard, that I finished the story and it was great but a monster of a read. I can see why it took you awhile to get it done. Now I can't wait to see how you continue on with this storyline.

ATM I'm wondering if I should combine Brotherhood, Blue Books, and the final part (possibly called Destiny) into something more book-length! There are all sorts of things that really ought to be developed more, and some strands that are only hinted at.

I haven't decided whether Paul and Chrys marry, or even if she survives.

And as for Ed... I've got a clear view of where he's going, but the details need a bit of tidying. OK, a LOT of tidying.

Funny to think that 'Destiny' was the first-ever UFO tale I actually wrote down, and it comes right at the end of this saga!

Fun, this writing stuff, isn't it!!   Wink Cool

Ummmm, what exactly do you mean by book-length, SnowLeopard? So far both stories have been pretty long, almost books in themselves. LOL! Well, not really but I'm sure it felt like that to you when you were writing them.
As for Paul and Chrys, I'm not positive he's really ready to settle yet. Oh and Ed always needs lots of tidying.  :Smiley
As for Destiny starting first and being last, well I've found out through all my years of writing and talking to my author friends that's how it goes sometimes. You start out developing your first story and somehow it gets pushed back to becoming the end of your original story.
Whatever you decide I know will turn out well.

I was thinking that by the time I'd developed all those short threads thoroughly, I'd probably end up with something comparable with one of Robert Miall's novelisations:

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/21078642-gerry-anderson-s-ufo

But I'd try to make sure it wasn't padding for the sake of it, but proper development.

'Destiny' had an odd gestation. I must have been stewing it for years, then I suddenly thought, it was time I wrote it down. And then I  had to show how the various things arose. And one thing led to another........

Yes, I've read quite a few of those books when they became available in the U.S. Though it was hard to find them. Marc's UFO site has a link to several that I've re-read there as I no longer have those books. Think I gave them away when I was done with them. But yes, you probably would end up with something along those lines.

Right, I've decided what to do about Paul and Chrys. No they don't marry, in fact they have to part because she has to leave SHADO. Details in due course!

And Ed doesn't marry either, or indeed remarry. That one's complicated.

And as for Johnny... I don't know yet!

Whatever happens, it won't be all happy-ever-after, that's for sure.

Not too many of the UFO shows ended happily, if memory serves. Just a few. So having your story not be all happily ever after would be along the lines of the show. Wink

Indeed. AQOP leaps to mind of course. And some of them end with questions - for instance, in 'Destruction', Ed asks 'how many more'. 'Conflict' is a bit happier. I think if I chose a word to describe 'Destiny' it would be 'bittersweet'.
